HP's program to leverage Indian ISVs
Bangalore: Looking at the potential of the Indian independent software vendors (ISV), Hewlett Packard (HP) has launched the Enterprise Software and Servers (ESS) ISV program. "Indian ISVs are sought after across the globe, because of their quality and efficiency and HP would like to partner with them," said Santanu Ghose, Country Head - Business Critical Servers Technology Solutions Group, HP India. "The program will help the ISVs in porting applications on HP platforms and aid in the performance tuning of the application to get better performance on HP platforms," said Faisal Paul, Head ESS - Marketing and Growth Initiatives. To enhance the technology lab for ISV enablement and certification, HP has set up the Partner Technology Access Centre (PTAC) in Bangalore, which is the third such centre in the world with the other centers being in U.S. and UK. According to Ghose, HP's Systems Technology and Software Division in Bangalore is one of the largest outside U.S. "There are almost 250 ISVs in India, who have already signed up for this program," added Paul. HP also announced that it was 25 years since it launched the HP-UX operating system for the servers based on UNIX. The latest version of the operating system is the HP-UX 11i, which comes with new enhancements to make it compatible with virtualization technology. India has also contributed to enhance HP's capabilities in this sphere as Ghose points out that a majority of work in developing HP-UX also happened in Bangalore.
